Z tego co mi wiadomo Franc Audio Accessories Ceramic Disc TH miały być dowodem na to że na rozsądnym pułapie cenowym da się zrobić całkiem satysfakcjonujące brzmieniowo podstawki/nóżki antywibracyjne i … I prawie to się Pawłowi Francowi Skulimowskiemu udało. Prawie, bo cenę rzeczywiście skalkulował, jak na audiofilskie realia, nad wyraz sensowną – nieco ponad 200€ za trzypak i nieco poniżej 300€ za czteropak, jednak śmiem twierdzić, iż skali poprawy jaką wnoszą niejako otwierające jego portfolio akcesoria najwidoczniej nie doszacował. W trakcie testów wyszło bowiem, że FAACD TH nie mając żadnych kompleksów czy to względem starszego rodzeństwa, czy dowolnej konkurencji robią po prostu swoje – poprawiają brzmienie stawianej na nich elektroniki. Dla niezorientowanych i nieco roztargnionych podkreślę słowo klucz – „poprawiają”, co oznacza, że mamy do czynienia jedynie z progresem a nie li tylko zmianą, która owej poprawy wcale oznaczać przecież nie musi. W tym miejscu nie pozostaje mi nic innego, jak jedynie zaprzestać dalszego cukrowania i pozostawić tytułowe stopki tam, gdzie ich miejsce i gdzie sprawdziły się najlepiej – pod Luminem U2 Mini, dopisując je tym samym do stałych składowych mojego dyżurnego toru audio.

I did the same thing with a Rega Planar 10 turntable on the Seismic rack, which brought even greater rewards, the Franc Audio Accessories Ceramic Disc TH feet relaxing the sound significantly by taking away edginess and softening the presentation without undermining detail. Voice was very well served here with a perceived increase in nuance, dynamic range and dynamic contrast. A sense of stunning three-dimensionality hit me, making the imaging tactile and adding weight and substance to the bass. Encouraged by this, I tried the Franc Audio Accessories Ceramic Disc Classic feet under this three-legged turntable. Van Morrison’s Astral Weeks [Warner Bros] retained its crude character but projected into the room much better with far more apparent separation between instruments and voices.

The Franc Audio Accessories Ceramic Disc isolation feet work and work very well. They are well built and finished to a high standard. If you want a better idea of what your system is capable of and what your music sounds like, I suggest you give them a spin.

Putting the TH feet under a Rega Planar 10’s three feet was also beneficial, making it sound more relaxed than it did on the glass shelf of a rack that incorporates damped spring isolation. I have to conclude that glass is not a great surface for a low mass turntable like this Rega. The Franc feet were beneficial to a greater degree than elsewhere and given the price of three TH feet represented the best value upgrade I’ve yet encountered for this turntable. They allowed it to deliver Joni Mitchell’s voice with increased subtlety and apparent dynamic range, the big bass note on Overture to Cotton Avenue (Don Juan’s Reckless Daughter) was gorgeous in its tone and depth of image. That said the mid and top seemed to benefit the most.

With an iFi Pro iDSD DAC using three TH feet increased note decay and image scale again, relaxing the sound and obviously improving timing. Keith Jarrett’s piano sounded harder and flatter without the feet and gained nuance and ease with them in place. The result was very similar to the power amp in truth with low level detail clearly benefiting from a lower noise floor which in turn reinforces all the quieter sounds that combine to produce a more convincing overall picture.
