That, more than anything else, demonstrates just how little smudging, slurring of leading edges or blurring of harmonic tails the speakers (or more precisely, their cabinets) append to the signal.

Most systems aren’t this sorted, most rooms aren’t this quiet. But a big, big part of this is the contribution of the Reference Transport. Listen to Wadax’ latest mechanical, optical and electrical magnum opus and it’s obviously different to more familiar disc players. It has a solidity, dimensionality, presence, a natural sense of proportion and absolute stability that surpass any other source component I’ve used – but that doesn’t quite isolate what makes the Reference Transport so special. It wasn’t until I was discussing the Transport with Stirling Trayle and he mentioned the utter silence against which the Wadax presents the recording that the pieces fell into place. As soon as he articulated the quality, I recognized exactly what he was talking about – and its significance. But the significance here is not what the Transport can do, but just how clearly and utterly unambiguously the speakers reveal it. The Transport might have a silent background, but so too do the Divin Majestics – and that’s rarer than you might think.

This silent underpinning has a profound musical and presentational impact. Play something as hackneyed as Brubeck’s ‘Time Out’ (from the album of the same name, Audio Nautes AN-2511-KD) and there’s a newly explicit quality to the timing and note length that invests this most familiar of audiophile clichés with a new sense of expressive range and engagement. I’ll come back to jazz (and horns in particular) in a moment, but first, let’s go smaller still…

Samostatný odstaveček si ale zaslouží závěrečný poslechový moment, kterým se stalo vložení kompaktního disku „Tannoy 85th Stereo Test Record“ od fantastických ABC Records. Tento disk začíná nahrávkou Bachovy nejslavnější „Tokáty a fugy, BWV 565“ s monumentálním zazvoněním v úvodu. Atlantis Reference Transport rozsvítil zážitek ještě o úroveň víc, než jak to dokázal už tak fantastický Atlantis Reference Server. Ač by si člověk myslel, že už „není kam“, tak přehrávač disků dokázal nabídnout ještě o notný kus lepší konkrétnost, masivnost a fyzičnost – jako byste stáli ve zvonici, kde zrovna odbíjí a pak se přesunuli do kostelní lavice, kde skrze vás prodýchává varhanní pedál, laděný ještě hluboko pod 20 Hz – a vy každý ten Hertz cítíte. Transport (pochopitelně v sestavě s Atlantis Reference DAC a extrémními kabely) patří do královské kategorie. Těžko vylovit z paměti víc než jeden dva další transporty, které by vzbudily tolik husí kůže jako právě Atlantis Reference Transport.

Stejně tak intenzivní a nádherně emotivní byla ale i „Amazing Grace“ Randyho Owena nebo poněkud temná „Jacob’s Dream“ Alison Krauss. A razantní bicí v „Jazz Variants“ skupiny The O-Zone Percussion Group zní průbojně, autoritativně, všechno má své místo i čas. Přehrávání stříbrných kotoučků je tedy bezkonkurenčně fantastický zážitek, u nějž snadno ztratíte všechen pojem o čase a prostoru.

Jistě, v ceně okolo nějakých 15 milionů korun za zdrojový komponent, schopný přehrávat všechny možné streamy i CD / SACD tak nějak očekáváte, že všechno bude fungovat. A jaksi že to bude fungovat dobře. Což všechno sestava komponentů Atlantis Reference a kabelů Akasa splňuje. Samozřejmě, že ano. Jsou to luxusně vyrobené komponenty, stejně tak naprosto hladce fungují – ale opět, to není nic, co byste za tuhle abstraktní částku nečekali. Nicméně faktem je, že prožitek při jejich poslouchání zůstával konstantě úžasný a to bez ohledu na prohazování dalších částí sestavy. Jako kdyby WADAX Atlantis Reference dokázal protlačit muziku v plném formátu skrze cokoliv, co v řetězci následuje. Od ostatních über high-endových řešení se pak liší zejména tím, že dbá na analogovost výstupu, na spojitou, barevnou, plnokrevnou formu, jíž rozprostře nejen ode zdi ke zdi, ale dokonce ještě dál. Vytvoří skutečně svébytný, neomezený a autenticky působící prostor, do kterého vás začlení a vygumuje okolní svět, takže zůstáváte v intimním kontaktu s hudbou a nevnímáte ani čas, ani místo. WADAX Atlantis Reference je vskutku referenčně muzikálním zdrojem signálu. Naprosto neortodoxním skoro po všech stránkách. Je to pochopitelně hračka pro pár vyvolených, přesto vzpomínka na poslech patří mezi ty, které nikdy nevyblednou…
